I am an occupational psychologist who is doing a part-time PhD, researching employer-supported volunteering (ESV), which is currently an under-researched area. More organisations are starting to offer paid time off for volunteering, yet uptake by employees still remains quite low. My hope is that my research will provide companies and volunteer-involving organisations with access to robust evidence to inform their decision making around ESV, and inform the design of their ESV programmes so that they can better meet the needs and expectations of employees, companies, and volunteer-involving organisations alike.
